Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama stuns Timberwolves in Game 2 with unprecedented stats

The San Antonio Spurs suffered a somewhat surprising Game 1 loss in the second round against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night, but they proved their mettle with an impressive bounce-back in Game 2. With all of the pressure on their shoulders, the young Spurs dominated Game 2 133-95 to even the series at one apiece.

Victor Wembanayma was the storyline coming out of Game 1, both for good and bad reasons. On one hand, the former No. 1 overall pick set a new NBA playoff record with 12 blocks and paired that with 11 points and 15 rebounds to collect a triple-double. On the other hand, he shot just 5-for-17 from the field and 0-for-8 from the 3-point line while giving up a number of key offensive rebounds in the second half.

On Wednesday night in Game 2, Wembanyama responded like the MVP-caliber player that he is. He finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks in just 26 minutes in the win, becoming the youngest player in Spurs history to record those numbers in a playoff game according to StatMuse.

This story will be updated.
