Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama reveals childhood dream of Larry O’Brien trophy

The San Antonio Spurs are back where they belong, and Victor Wembanyama is feeling every bit of the moment. San Antonio punched its ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014 after a grueling 111-103 Game 7 road victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

Wembanyama, who couldn’t hold back tears postgame, led the charge with 22 points and seven rebounds. His stellar play earned him the Western Conference finals MVP honors, but the generational big man already has his eyes on a much bigger piece of hardware.

“Winning the Larry O’Brien, it’s a childhood dream,” Wembanyama said ahead of the Finals. “And having the tangible chance at winning it, realizing a dream you know, it’s a chance, it’s a lifetime chance.”

“It’s a childhood dream… it’s a lifetime chance.”
