Spike Lee shows up to Game 3 in one-of-a-kind jersey

If there’s anyone who has waited an incredibly long time to see the New York Knicks win an NBA championship, it’s Spike Lee. The Knicks’ superfan, whose courtside trash talk to Reggie Miller during the 1995 Eastern Conference Finals gained him notoriety, showed up to Game 3 of the NBA Finals wearing a unique jersey.

Not only was Spike Lee’s jersey an homage to Pope Leo XIV, the jersey was also signed by the Chicago native. The number of the jersey is also is a reference to his number, ‘XIV.’ The location of the signature on the jersey caught the attention of social media as many pointed out that it was signed on the four in 14, a possible sign of things to come for the Knicks.

Coming into Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Knicks hold a 2-0 lead. They could potentially win the series in four with a favorable schedule of having the next two games at Madison Square Garden. With this being the first NBA Finals game on their home floor since 1999, it’s sure to be an electrifying environment.

Meanwhile, through the first two games of the NBA Finals, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns are shining through as the Knicks’ star duo.

During the Knicks playoff run thus far, Brunson is averaging 26.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.1 steals with splits of 46.1 percent shooting from the field, 33.3 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 84.4 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

Towns is averaging 20.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.0 assists with splits of 50.1 percent shooting from the field, 36.8 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 85.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
