Skip Bayless called out over false report on Fever firing Stephanie White

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will look to arrest their two-game skid when they host the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday.

The Fever are coming off a loss to the Portland Fire, 100-84, at Moda Center on Saturday, with Clark being limited to a season-low six points on 1-of-7 shooting. Before that, they fell short against the Golden State Valkyries, 90-88, at Chase Center.

Indiana is sitting on a 4-3 record. Amid the team’s up-and-down stretch, whispers have arisen that coach Stephanie White is in the hot seat.

Sports commentator Skip Bayless, however, took it further. On X, he falsely claimed that the Fever already fired White due to her “in-game” clashes with Clark.

ESPN’s Alexa Philippou and The Indianapolis Star’s Chloe Peterson already debunked Bayless’ fake news.

“This is completely untrue—and that’s straight from the team,” said Philippou.

“For those who have seen Skip Bayless’ tweet about reports of Stephanie White being let go from the Fever: I’m told there is absolutely no validity to that report. Stephanie White is still the head coach in Indiana,” noted Peterson.

As of writing, Bayless has not deleted his post.

Fans swiftly mocked Bayless over his reckless report.

“Thank God y’all cleared that up. Old Man Skip got punked into doing it. He needs his phone taken away,” said @tlove2b.

“Clicks Bayless is so desperate to hang onto relevancy that he’s now making up flat-out lies. Pathetic,” added @detroithawkeye.

“I think he may have gotten from that fake page that’s always posting stuff,” wrote @Mariadenise1.

“If anyone uses Skip as a source, you probably gotta get off the internet,” suggested @LeLaker.

“Thanks for confirming, but it’s Skip. There’s a reason he’s not on TV anymore,” commented @BrandonWalk.

The 48-year-old White is in her second stint with the Fever. The team rehired her last season after a two-year stop with the Connecticut Sun. She led the Fever to the WNBA Finals in her first year in 2015.

She and Clark have repeatedly expressed their mutual admiration for each other.
