Shane Drohan opens up about returning to Brewers’ rotation vs. Giants
For their contest against the San Francisco Giants on Monday evening, the Milwaukee Brewers decided to return Shane Drohan to the starting rotation after a stint in the bullpen.
Drohan would see four innings of work, earning five strikeouts with two walks on 68 total pitches while surrendering two runs on four hits; he earned a no-decision in what was an eventual 16-2 Brewers win. Afterward, he talked about how he approached returning to the mound as a starter rather than a reliever, noting that his approach didn’t change much.
“Really not too different,” Drohan said via David Gasper on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I think the pre-game routine is different; you throw right before, do a little (bullpen), and head out. But other than that, I kind of just attacked it the same way.”

During his time in the bullpen, Drohan posted a solid 1.82 ERA with a 26.5% strikeout rate in 24.2 innings of work, along with a 0.93 WHIP.
The good news for the Brewers, who are 36-21 after Monday’s blowout win over the Giants, is that their lineup is mostly healthy.
However, the Brewers are currently suffering from a bevy of injuries to their pitching staff. Not only did Ángel Zerpa have season-ending elbow surgery, but they also lost veteran starter Brandon Woodruff to shoulder inflammation. As if that weren’t enough, rookie right-hander Logan Henderson is out because of a lower back injury, and lefties Rob Zastryzny and Jared Koenig are still unavailable.
The Brewers are back at it on Tuesday evening for the second of their four-game set against the visiting Giants at American Family Field.
