Secret Service to do TSA-style screening before Game 3 Donald Trump appearance

Ahead of Donald Trump’s appearance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the New York Knicks have announced an enhanced security protocol for fans expected to watch the game at Madison Square Garden.

“A strict no-bag policy will be in effect, and fans should make every effort to limit personal items to an absolute minimum. Fans should expect enhanced security measures when entering Madison Square Garden, including TSA-style screening procedures. Guests are strongly encouraged to arrive at least two hours before tip-off to allow additional time for screening and entry,” the statement from the Knicks social media account read.

Ahead of the announced security precautions, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver spoke about the expectation of an enhanced security presence due to Trump’s appearance at the game in comments obtained by ESPN on Thursday.

“There should be extra security for the president of the United States to be at a game, but I think the fans are very understanding of that,” Silver said. “I think they recognize that it adds to the bigness of the event.”

Frank himself announced that he will be attending Monday’s game at Madison Square Garden and even indicated that he’d be willing to attend Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

“The answer is yes,” Trump said. “[Dolan] has invited me, and I’m going. I’ll be there. It could be Monday. Maybe I’ll do both [Game 3 and Game 4]… “[The Knicks] find a way to do it. They’re really great, a great team. I’m happy for Jim [Dolan] because Jim has really been fighting hard to produce such a team.”
