Scotland wonderkid explains tough Celtic vs Hearts family dilemma after winning inaugural award

Celtic’s Scottish title triumph over Hearts created a ‘unique’ dilemma for the Forrest family on the final day of the season.

Martin O’Neill’s side pipped their opponents to top spot with a 3-1 victory at Celtic Park earlier this month.

The win denied Hearts a first league title for 66 years as they missed out by just two points.

Their devastating loss prompted a bittersweet moment in the Forrest household, Glasgow City midfielder Lisa Forrest has revealed.

The 20-year-old is the younger sister of Celtic’s James Forrest and Hearts playmaker Alan Forrest.

Both brothers were involved off the bench on the final day as Lisa watched the drama unfold.

Fresh from an impressive season of her own, she joined talkSPORT’s Shebahn Aherne and Ruesha Littlejohn on the latest episode of The Kick Back.

Asked about the impact of the Scottish Premiership title race, Lisa explained: “We were all so stuck, we didn’t know what to think, it was such a unique moment.

“They were both on the pitch together for the last 25 minutes as well, up against each other. We were all just kind of speechless.

“It’s obviously such a bittersweet situation because one of them obviously is going to be buzzing, then one of them is going to be quite down.

“We just support the both of them equally and whatever happens, happens, but it is a really proud moment to sit back and watch them two play at the highest level in Scotland.”

However, she refused to be drawn on the controversial decision to award Celtic a penalty in their penultimate match against Motherwell.

The Bhoys snatched a victory with a stoppage time spot-kick after a handball call went against their opponents following a VAR review.

When asked if it was a handball, Lisa replied: “I don’t know, I’m not getting into that.”

Eldest brother James was on the winning side in the title race as he scooped his 14th Scottish Premiership with Celtic.

The former Scotland international has been with the club for 23 years, making 569 first-team appearances since graduating from their academy.

Meanwhile, Alan suffered heartbreak with Hearts and will leave the club this summer after four years at Tynecastle.

As for Lisa, she is fresh from winning the inaugural Scottish Football Writers’ Association SWPL Young Player of the Year award.

It followed her brace in the final of the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup back in March.

The Scottish youth international scored 17 goals in all competitions for Glasgow City this season.
