However, Gunn is set to become a free agent on June 30 when his Forest deal it expires.

It comes after the Premier League side confirmed his exit after announcing their retained list ahead of next season.

Gunn will depart the City Ground after ten months at the club.

The Scotland stopper joined Forest in August following his exit from Norwich City at the end of last season.

He made just one appearance for the club having had to wait until February for his debut.

Gunn featured for 45 minutes against Crystal Palace in February after replacing the injured Matz Sels at half time, keeping a clean sheet in the second half.

Forest have also confirmed Willy Boly and Stefan Ortega will also be released at the end of their contracts.

Meanwhile, striker Lorenzo Lucca is set to return to Napoli after his loan spell.

Scotland’s No.1

Despite being released by Forest, Gunn is part of Scotland’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

The Tartan Army will see their side in action at the finals for the first time since 1998.

Scotland begin their campaign against Haiti on Saturday although kick-off is at 2am on Sunday morning in the UK, live on talkSPORT.

Gunn has won 22 caps for his country since making his debut in 2023. It followed a switch of allegiance from England after representing the Three Lions up to under-21 level.

He is set to compete with Liam Kelly and Craig Gordon for a spot in Clarke’s starting XI at the tournament.

Gunn played the full 90 minutes of Scotland’s final warm-up match against Bolivia.

Their comfortable 4-0 win saw him rarely get tested as he kept a clean sheet.

Meanwhile, Gordon started the previous match against Curacao before being replaced late on by Kelly in a 4-1 win at Hampden Park.
