Saturday horse racing tips

Newbury

  • 1.25: West Wind Blows 5/1 (1pt)
  • 2.35: Damysus 3/1 (1pt)
  • 3.10: Albert Einstein 11/4 (1pt)

West Wind Blows

The racing kicks off with the huge Group 3 Aston Park Stakes which features some top contenders this year including Kalpana rated 120 for trainer Andrew Balding.

Colin Keane gets the ride being Juddmonte’s retained rider but West Wind Blows offers a great price at 5/1.

This horse placed second behind Calandagan at Meydan in March before going well in second again at Longchamp earlier this month.

He’s been in and out of France since December and even jetted off to Australia back in 2023 before taking a 723 day break until returning to the UK at Kempton in November.

Kalpana is a much shorter price as the clear favourite but her form ties in close to West Wind Blows and also has plenty of second places to her name that makes her tough to back here.

Damysus

It looks wide open with plenty of runners for the Lockinge this weekend.

But realistically Damysus at 3/1 is hard to pass up.

Both jockey and trainer are in great form over the last couple of weeks and the Frankel colt is one of the few that could still progress from his already extremely high mark.

Winning three in a row to rise in the weights and has proved he’s one to keep an eye on, placing close in defeat on just two runs shows he’s got the consistency and raw ability you look for in a horse to win races like this.

Latest win to beat King’s Gambit by nearly four lengths was all the more impressive and 3/1 looks solid.

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was a bit disappointing on his two starts so far this season having been tipped for greater things this campaign.

So much so he’s still got entries in the Irish 2,000 Guineas (1m), the King Charles III Stakes (5f) and a variety of other races at Ascot as the yard try to figure out what to do with him.

The step back to 6f is interesting to take on the Highclere Castle Gin Carnarvon Stakes and also looks an incredible price given his prior talked about ability and potential.
