Ryder Cup ticket prices for 2027 skyrocket by 92 per cent as organisers explain reasoning

If golf fans want to attend next year’s Ryder Cup, they better start saving.

Prices for the 2027 edition of golf’s most iconic tournament, which will be held at Adare Manor in Limerick, Republic of Ireland, have been released and they make for eye-watering reading.

How much will tickets cost to attend the 2027 Ryder Cup?

A daily general admission ticket for the three tournament days, which run from 17-19 September, will set fans back €499 (£434).

It is a steep increase on what fans had to fork out in 2023 when the Ryder Cup was played in Rome, with the same ticket costing €260 (£226).

Despite the drastic rise, which marks the most expensive ticket at a European-hosted Ryder Cup, it is less than what golf enthusiasts had to pay to attend the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

Fans had to part with a staggering $750 (£555) to watch the action unfold in New York last year, where the European team defied a rowdy and often unruly crowd to retain their status as Ryder Cup champions.

Why 2027 Ryder Cup tickets have increased in price

Speaking to BBC Sport Northern Ireland, European Tour Group’s chief Ryder Cup officer Richard Atkinson defended the increased prices and claimed they were ‘proportionate to a global sporting event.’

“We acknowledge it’s an increase from Rome,” Atkinson said.

“That was four years ago and a lot has happened in the world since then.

“We are lower than Bethpage. We’ve tried to make this as accessible as possible to a wide demographic of people. Our practice day tickets will be from €89 and juniors from €20.

“Our prices are proportionate to a global sporting event. This event has grown in stature and profile, it’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

“We’re confident in our pricing but we’ve made it accessible to everyone.”

For all the abuse that the Americans dished out at Bethpage, there was little atmosphere. European fans, while greatly outnumbered, drowned out their counterparts with chants of ‘is this a library’ behind the first tee every day.

The Ryder Cup is the one golfing event adored by the working classes in what is usually considered a snooty, elitist game.

Many felt like the PGA of America priced out the Long Islanders who would have been sure to bring the noise to Bethpage Black, rather than simply shouting lame insults at the opposition.

Like New York, Ireland has a fiercely passionate sporting culture with some of the loudest fans around.

With these ticket prices, the DP World Tour have gone against the spirit of the Ryder Cup and risked turning the 2027 edition into another corporate jolly.

How many times has Rory McIlroy told us it’s not about the money? Europe can’t beat the Americans with that stick anymore.

Atkinson added the ticket is not just for the action on the fairways, as he promised fans will get their money’s worth via on-site entertainment.

“We have significant focus on the fan experience on site and from the moment the people arrive at 6:30 in the morning, they’ll be entertained not only by 24 of the best golfers in the world but also outside of the ropes, we’ll have an extensive entertainment programme to keep the fans engaged,” Atkinson added.

Residents in Ireland will have first dibs on tickets thanks to an exclusive priority window which opens on April 24 at 11am.

Irish residents who are unsuccessful during the priority window will have another chance to obtain tickets when the open ballot for global tickets opens on June 3.

The 2027 Ryder Cup marks the first time in has been staged in Ireland since 2006, when it was held at the K Club in County Kildare.

Team Europe took home the spoils in 2006, which marked a third-straight Ryder Cup having won in 2002 and 2004.

History could repeat itself next year in terms of Europe securing the ‘three-peat’ in Ireland thanks to victories in 2023 and 2025.

Europe has already taken a giant stride in the right direction of doing so, with Luke Donald returning as captain for a third-straight Ryder Cup.

As for the US team, one man who will not be around to aid their efforts in Ireland will be Tiger Woods.

The golf legend, who was recently involved in a car accident, confirmed to the PGA of America he had no intention of captaining the US team in 2027.

Keegan Bradley skippered the US team in 2025 having taken over from Zach Johnson.

But given the Americans’ defeat last time out on the course, Bradley is no guarantee to reprise his role.
