Ryan Reynolds makes savage comment as couple move from Texas to Wrexham after watching documentary

An American couple are set to move from Texas to Wrexham after watching the club’s Disney Plus documentary.

The Championship outfit features in the Welcome to Wrexham series on the streaming platform.

Having first aired in 2022, the show released its fifth season earlier this year and has already been extended for three more editions.

Documenting the goings on at the club since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s takeover in 2020, it has brought in fans from around the world.

Among them are Jeff and Janice Ivey from New Braunfels, Texas, who are now set to move to the Welsh city.

The couple have visited Wales seven times in the last two-and-a-half years since first watching the show.

Jeff is already in Wrexham house-hunting ahead of their permanent move to the area.

He already holds UK citizenship through his Scottish ancestry, whilst Janice remains in the USA selling their home and awaiting her visa.

Reynolds reacts to Wrexham move

News of their impending move quickly went viral on social media, with Wrexham co-owner Reynolds even spotting the story.

The Hollywood star could not resist providing his own response to the move.

Writing on X, he joked: “Thank God they didn’t watch Chernobyl,” in reference to the 2019 series.

The show centred on the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which occurred near to the now abandoned Ukrainian city of Pripyat.

Reynolds is no stranger to social media antics in relation to the club.

He even shared his X-rated reaction to drawing Chelsea in the FA Cup last season alongside fellow actor Hugh Jackman on X.

Wrexham ready for new season

Since buying the club with McElhenney six years ago, they have overseen a remarkable change in fortunes for the Red Dragons.

Wrexham won three successive promotions to reach the Championship in 2025.

It marked their first appearance in the second-tier of English football for 43 years.

Phil Parkinson’s side subsequently finished seventh last season, missing out on the play-offs by just two points.
