Roma vs Juventus predictions
In the end, the hurdle was just too high for Juventus to clear.
They gave it a good go. After a 5-2 defeat by Galatasaray in the first leg of their Champions League knockout phase play-off last week, many Juve fans had accepted their team would be bowing out of the competition before the last 16.
The Bianconeri closed the deficit in the return fixture on Wednesday when Manuel Locatelli kept his cool from the penalty spot in the 37th minute. But after Lloyd Kelly was sent off early in the second half, Juve’s race appeared to be run.
Not so. Goals from Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie pulled Juventus level on aggregate despite their numerical disadvantage.
They remained in the ascendancy thereafter, with Galatasaray on the ropes despite having one more player than their opponents. But Juventus could not quite manage what would have been a decisive fourth goal, and their Turkish opponents struck twice in extra time to kill off their challenge.
Luciano Spalletti was rightly proud of his players’ efforts even as they fell short. Juventus racked up an xG of 5.2 and had 28 attempts on Galatasaray’s goal. With sharper finishing, they would probably be in the last 16 now.
Instead, Juventus are left to concentrate on their efforts to qualify for next season’s edition of Europe’s premier tournament. It is a fight in which Roma, among others, are also engaged.
The title race is as good as over, barring a complete collapse from Inter. A 10-point advantage should be enough for the Nerazzurri to get over the line even if they have a mediocre end to the campaign.
Milan are second on 54 points, giving them an excellent chance of Champions League qualification. Then come Napoli on 50, Roma on 50, Juventus on 46, and Como and Atalanta on 45 apiece. Two of those teams below Inter and Milan are likely to miss out.
Both participants head into this match in patchy form. Juventus have taken only one point from the last nine on offer in Serie A, and have just been knocked out of Europe.
Roma have fared better in recent weeks, despite winning only two of their last five league outings. In fairness, two of those games were creditable draws against Milan and Napoli, but Gian Piero Gasperini’s team still have work to do in the race for the top four.
Roma vs Juventus betting tips
It is fourth against fifth in Serie A as Roma entertain Juventus at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma to triumph?
Roma’s record in big games this season leaves a lot to be desired.
Gasperini’s team have generally been reliable against opponents you would expect them to beat. But on the 10 occasions on which they have dropped points, seven have been against either title or top-four contenders.
However, Roma head into this match in a better frame of mind than Juventus and that could make all the difference.
They have also had a full week to prepare for this game, both physically and mentally, while Roma will also draw confidence from the fact only Inter have a better home record.
A one-sided encounter is unlikely, but Roma should find a way to come out on top in front of their own supporters.
Roma to win at 12/7 with 247Bet
Goals await in Rome
Gasperini is known to be an attack-minded manager. His Atalanta side played some of the best football in Europe on their day.
Yet goals have often been hard to come by for Roma this season. They have made the net ripple just 34 times, the eighth-most in the division. Their defence, on the other hand, is the strongest in Serie A.
Having watched his team concede seven goals in their last three Serie A matches, plus seven across two games against Galatasaray, Spalletti will be keen to see a more resolute defensive performance from Juventus here.
Under 2.5 goals, a bet which has paid out in 73 percent of Roma’s league games in 2025/26, is our second pick for Sunday’s game.

Malen one to watch
Donyell Malen has made an instant impact after joining Roma from Aston Villa in the January transfer window.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has already scored five times in only six league appearances for his new employers.
Despite only entering the building a few weeks ago, Malen only needs one more goal to be Roma’s joint-highest scorer in this Serie A season.
No one who has watched him in the last month or so would be surprised if he gets it against Juventus.
