Rodney Harrison did not stutter with A.J. Brown Patriots trade endorsement

As rumors have been surrounding the New England Patriots and A.J. Brown regarding a potential trade from the Philadelphia Eagles, a former star gives his endorsement. While the trade buzz with the Patriots and Brown will continue, Rodney Harrison would make his thoughts known on the matter.

Having been a highly productive safety in the NFL, playing with New England from 2003 to 2008, he is now an analyst, and in an interview with ESPN, he expressed how the team ‘needs’ to do a trade for Brown. Besides the Patriots’ need at the position,  Brown would give the team an “identity” that is missing.

“When you look at the Patriots receivers, they don’t have that identity. And the thing I picked up last year, no one was really afraid of them,” Harrison said.

“When you put that 6-2, 225-pound guy out there, it gives the offense a different look and forces defenses to respect that,” Harrison continued. “He would give them a toughness and open up so many things from a strategy standpoint…When A.J. is engaged and excited to play and feels like he’s a big part of the game plan, there’s not many better than him.”

There’s no denying that Brown has been impactful in his career thus far, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in six of the seven seasons he’s played. Harrison would continue saying how the Patriots would get a “dawg” in Brown, creating an identity that is a “big, physical offense,” aside from it being an exciting pickup for the team.

“He would provide so much excitement and confidence throughout the locker room,” Harrison said. “If you can add a top-five to top-seven wide receiver to your roster, that is big from an emotional standpoint. This team has gone through an emotional sore getting over the Super Bowl and then what happened with their head coach, so it would give them an emotional boost.

It remains to be seen if New England trades for Brown as they look to further improve after reaching the Super Bowl last season.
