Richarlison has suggested he will not be re-joining Everton from Tottenham Hotspur.

The striker had appeared set for a return to the Toffees ahead of the Premier League transfer deadline.

Clubs have until 11pm on Tuesday to conclude their summer business.

A deal between Everton and Spurs for Richarlison had been agreed alongside a separate transfer involving Iliman Ndiaye.

It came after Roberto De Zerbi had revealed the forward had asked to leave the club.

Whilst Manchester City could still move for Ndiaye, Richarlison suggested he won’t be on the move.

In a message posted on his Instagram story, the player appeared to hit out at Spurs for the way they’ve acted during the negotiations.

His message suggests that while he was open to going back to Merseyside, Richarlison now may want to honour his Spurs contract, which expires next summer.

He wrote: “After everything I’ve been through in recent years, I decided that they would never again decide my future for me.

“I’ve been through a lot of bad things these days and almost all of them happened because of decisions made by other people.

“Pressure, threats, retaliations, none of this scares me. I’ve been through worse things… believe me!

“I have always made it clear, at every opportunity, that an exit of mine to another place would also have to be good for the club.

“If it wasn’t, I would never accept… as I didn’t accept when everything here was falling apart and they needed me.

“I stayed and gave my life. So, I hope you treat my situation with the same respect that I always had for Spurs and for all the people who worked with me during this period. Just don’t want to decide for me.

“If they enter into an agreement between Spurs and Everton, I go back to my favourite team.

“My intention was to return to the place where I was very happy. But the negotiations were the way people wanted and it won’t be like this anymore.

“Despite this riot, I have a contract with Spurs and I will be at the club’s disposal.”

Richarlison previously spent four years at Everton after signing from Watford in 2018.

During that time, he scored 53 goals in 152 appearances across all competitions.

Having moved to Spurs in 2022, the Brazil international was part of the side which won the Europa League last year.

The triumph ended the club’s 17-year trophy drought with victory in the final over Manchester United.

The 29-year-old was not included in the matchday squad for Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle United.

He started in a defeat against Brentford the previous week.
