Relocated MLB team slammed for using AI to promote new $2bn ballpark, ‘Unfathomable levels of slop’
The latest Las Vegas bound team have been left feeling underwhelmed after reaction to their latest renderings.
Construction of The Athletic’s new $2bn ballpark is ahead of schedule, but the team will be honoring their agreement with the city of Sacramento.

Since leaving the Oakland Coliseum at the end of the 2024 season, the A’s have played their home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.
The minor league stadium plays host to The Athletics and the Sacramento River Cats, who are the Triple-A affiliate for the San Francisco Giants.
Fans still don’t have a clear idea as to what their new ballpark will look like, but they do have an idea of what new features are coming.
One of those new features is the introduction of the Diamond and Athletic club, with the overall aim of setting a new standard of baseball hospitality.
It will include a private restaurant and supper club with a multi-course, table-service menu, as well as an upscale lounge featuring small plates, craft beer, curated wines and premium cocktails – but fans still don’t have a real idea as to what it will look like.
Recently, the team’s official X account posted a video of the club, and a general exterior shot of the stadium using AI.
AI-generated fans are depicted enjoying the AI-generated luxury suites and club sections before cutting to an AI-generated view of the field and the ballpark exterior.
Predictably, the response to the video has been overwhelmingly negative.
“You guys might be the worst marketers I have ever seen. Unfathomable levels of slop,” one said underneath the video.
“When I close my eyes and think about baseball, I literally think the exact opposite of this,” a second vented his frustration.

“Should be calling them the Las Vegas Ai’s, what a sloppy video,” A third said.
“Go generic green and yellow team because we couldn’t even be bothered to ask AI to put them in fan gear,” a fourth sarcastically mocked.
It’s hard to imagine that fans will splash the cash and spend money on joining the Athletic club without a proper look at what it comes with.
After all, the statement that it wants to set a new standard of baseball hospitality means it will be an exclusive club that will cost a good amount to be a part of.
Around 300 season tickets will be available for the Athletic club, and those interested will be hoping for a less AI-heavy depiction next time.
A’s to play six games in Las Vegas during 2026 regular season
The Athletics will be playing six games in Nevada this season, two years before they are set to call the state their permanent home.

The games — three with the Milwaukee Brewers, June 8-10, followed by three with the Colorado Rockies, June 12-14 — will be played at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin.
The 10,000-seat stadium is home to the Las Vegas Aviators, the Triple-A affiliate of the A’s.
The 2026 home games won’t be the first time the franchise will play regular season baseball in Las Vegas.
Thirty years ago, due to construction issues at the Oakland Coliseum, the A’s opened the 1996 season at the 9,370-seat Cashman Field.
The series was the first time in 40 years that a major league team played a regular-season game in a minor league park.
