Red Sox’s Willson Contreras drops admission after defeating Brewers

The Boston Red Sox earned a 5-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. Boston ultimately earned a 2-1 series win as a result. The Red Sox struggled to begin the season, but they are trending in the right direction following their series against Milwaukee. Willson Contreras commented on the team’s win after Wednesday’s game, via MLB.com.

“I mean, we needed this,” Contreras said. “We needed this series win… We played ball. We won last night, we won today. Hopefully we carry this winning streak into our road trip.”

It was an eventful series. Contreras was upset after getting hit by a pitch from Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff early in the series. He had been hit rather often by pitchers from the Brewers in the past, so the incident from early in the series frustrated the Red Sox star.

Milwaukee won the first game 8-6. Boston bounced back with a 3-2 win on Tuesday and the aforementioned 5-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.

Overall, the Red Sox hold a record of just 4-8. They have yet to meet their lofty preseason expectations. Regardless, the fact is that the Red Sox have now won two consecutive games. They will attempt to carry their momentum into their upcoming road trip as Contreras mentioned.

Boston will begin the road trip in St. Louis against the Cardinals on Friday. The Red Sox and Cardinals will play three games from Friday through Sunday. Boston will then head to Minnesota for a Monday-Wednesday three-game series before returning home to host the Detroit Tigers.
