Red Sox’s Chad Tracy gives Brayan Bello props for swagger vs. Guardians

Interim manager Chad Tracy had bright remarks to say about Brayan Bello despite the Boston Red Sox’s 4-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Friday evening.

Bello is going through the fifth season of his career in the majors. He mainly plays in games as a starter, but has occasionally stepped onto the mound as a reliever. That was the case in Boston’s series opener against Cleveland, replacing Tyler Samaniego after the first inning.

Bello excelled in his seven innings of service, striking out five batters while conceding just four hits. Tracy reflected on the pitcher’s efforts after the game, praising him for keeping Boston in the game after the slow start.

“He was awesome,” said Tracy. “Obviously, with the way it started, he came in and quieted that game down pretty quickly and gave us a shot. Pounded the strike zone, changeup was working, cutter in the right location, ahead in the count. He was as good as you could ask for.”

“I don’t know that you can make sense of it. The most important thing for me right now is that he looked great. Not only did he look great, but had a swagger about him on the mound that we’ve seen in the past.”

How Brayan Bello, Red Sox played against Guardians

Brayan Bello certainly made the effort after the Red Sox went down 4-0 after the first inning.

Boston attempted a rally for the rest of the game, managing to score three runs. However, their advances fell short as Cleveland stopped them in their tracks.

Boston fell to a 23-33 record on the season, being at the bottom of the AL East Division standings. They are behind the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays at the moment.

The Red Sox will look to bounce back in their second of three games against the Guardians. Game 2 takes place on May 30 at 4:10 p.m. ET.
