Real Betis vs Real Madrid predictions and betting tips – Blancos retain slim title hopes

Real Madrid are still in the La Liga title race for now, although their chances of winning the championship are hanging by a thread. Still, Alvaro Arbeloa’s side must keep going until the prize is out of reach.

Real Betis are towards the top of the table themselves, so this is far from a straightforward assignment for Madrid.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid predictions

It was a must-win game for Real Madrid, and a win is what they got.

A 2-1 victory over Alaves on Tuesday night kept Madrid’s season alive. Out of the Champions League, the only trophy the Blancos can still win is the La Liga title, although that looks like a long shot.

At the time of writing, Madrid are six points behind Barcelona. They have played a game more than their arch-rivals, who face Celta Vigo on Wednesday, but a Barca slip-up would potentially open the door to Madrid.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s team must continue applying pressure until the race is mathematically finished.

Even though the interim manager is unlikely to land the job on a permanent basis following Madrid’s quarter-final exit from the Champions League, his chances will drop to nil if Madrid’s campaign fizzles out.

It was important for the capital club to return to winning ways against Alaves, having not emerged triumphant from any of their previous four outings in all competitions.

The two losses to Bayern Munich were the most painful moments in that run, but the 2-1 defeat by Real Mallorca and 1-1 draw with Girona were arguably more frustrating. Bayern are a world-class team. With all due respect, the same label cannot be applied to Mallorca or Girona.

If Madrid were to collect 18 points from the last 18 available to them, there is a slim chance they would win the title. There is still a Clasico to come at the Camp Nou, so Arbeloa’s team should not throw in the towel just yet.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid betting tips

Real Betis host Real Madrid in La Liga with the end of the season fast approaching.

Madrid to scrape through

Real Betis were also victorious in midweek, beating Girona 3-2 on the road to end a seven-match winless streak in La Liga.

With Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid all secure in the top four, Real Betis are battling Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad for fifth, which could be a Champions League berth.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men occupy that spot for now, but they have been in mediocre form of late.

Real Betis are still one of La Liga’s strongest sides outside the elite, but Madrid’s extra star quality should get them over the line provided they are fully focused on Friday evening.

Goals to be shared

Arbeloa must have been frustrated by Real Madrid’s concession of a goal to Alaves in second-half stoppage time on Tuesday.

Antonio Martinez’s effort denied Madrid a clean sheet, which means they have now gone eight matches in all competitions without one.

Remarkably, Arbeloa’s side have conceded in each of their last nine La Liga games, so Real Betis will be confident of breaching Madrid’s backline here.

Bear in mind, too, that there has been an average of 3.03 goals in Madrid’s league matches this term, and 2.75 in those involving Real Betis.

Mbappe the main man

Kylian Mbappe was at it again on Tuesday, opening the scoring in the 2-1 defeat of Alaves at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

That strike moved Mbappe onto 24 goals for the campaign. Despite a valiant challenge from Real Mallorca’s Vedat Muriqi, who has scored 21 times, Mbappe is on course to win the Pichichi for a second season on the bounce.

It may be unoriginal to tip Mbappe to score for Real Madrid this term, but it has proved lucrative too.

On this occasion, there is value to be had in backing the France international to strike before anyone else, as he did against Alaves last time out.
