Rashford made his second successive Premier League start for the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

However, he was unable to inspire them to victory at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees snatched a stoppage time equaliser through Ainsley Maitland-Niles after Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko had both put United ahead.

United were also forced to finish the match without Rashford in their attack.

The England international was replaced by Patrick Dorgu in the 70th minute due to the injury.

At the time, it did not appear obvious the extent of the issue which caused an end to Rashford’s afternoon.

Carrick has since provided an update following the final whistle, though, revealing: “Just had an issue, so nothing major.”

The potential blow comes just days before United begin their Champions League campaign. Carrick’s side welcome champions of Azerbaijan Sabah to Old Trafford on Thursday night, live on talkSPORT.

The Red Devils then host Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, September 13.

Rashford has made three appearances already this season having been reintegrated into the United first-team.

Prior to their opening weekend loss to Hull City, he had not featured for the club since December 2024.

After falling out of favour after previous manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford had loan spells with both Aston Villa and Barcelona.

However, the latter opted against triggering their buy option in the summer despite his contributions to their LaLiga title triumph.

The 28-year-old currently has just under two years remaining on his deal.

Rashford signed an extension through to the end of next season back in the summer of 2023.
