PSG vs Newcastle tips
Home advantage key for Enrique’s troops
While PSG have lost two of their seven games in the competition this season, they have home advantage on Wednesday and that should prove decisive.
Luis Enrique’s side have only lost two of their 13 competitive ties at the Parc des Princes and one of those came against Bayern Munich.
PSG have been involved in some entertaining games so far and both teams to score has landed in five of PSG’s games in Europe. However, a home win should also occur, with Newcastle winning only two of their last 10 games away from St James’ Park.
Injuries to Tino Livramento and Fabian Schar have weakened the right-hand side of their defence and they should fall short.
PSG to make a statement
PSG have scored a whopping 20 goals in the Champions League this season and they have entertained their fans at home as per usual.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions have scored 32 goals in 13 games in Paris and they will look to make a statement and secure a last-16 spot.
While they did not need to do that last season on their way to lifting the trophy, PSG are in a title race in Ligue 1.
Les Parisiens are only two points clear at the top of the table ahead of Lens and a convincing win on Wednesday will help them avoid a play-off round and therefore lighten their schedule.
Newcastle have conceded two goals in their away ties against Bayer Leverkusen and Marseille and a team of PSG’s quality should be able to score at least three goals.
The Magpies have only kept one clean sheet away from home in their last 10 outings.
Gordon offers value in anytime market
PSG boss Enrique has the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola at his disposal in the final third, but it is Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon who offers good value in the anytime scorer market.
Gordon has scored nine goals in 30 appearances in all competitions and six of his strikes have come in Europe. He is Newcastle’s penalty-taker and could play as part of a front two on occasions with Yoane Wissa.
At 9/2, he offers tremendous value to score, especially in a game that should be end-to-end for large parts.
