Jimmy Bullard’s son makes professional debut in different sport

Archie Bullard was cheered on by his ex-footballer dad Jimmy Bullard as he made his single-seater racing debut at the weekend.

The 19-year-old competed in GB4, a single seater motorsport series based in the UK, at Silverstone where he finished 24th twice and 22nd out of 29 cars across his three races at the event.

The teenager is now planning to feature again at Oulton Park next month.

Following the event, Bullard shared a series of snaps to Instagram, including one with his dad in the paddock.

Alongside the post, he wrote: “GB4 Debut Success! Coming into my first-ever race weekend in cars, at Silverstone, I was initially on the back foot in a sense of experience and seat time having only nine days in a car ever.

“Despite the lack of laps under my belt, in all three races I was clean. Attempting ambitious moves on the inside and outside, but ultimately loved every second of it.

“Even though I didn’t perform as well as I wanted to, it was still an unforgettable weekend. Now it’s all eyes on Oulton Park next month.”

Bullard’s debut came after he made the switch from karting to single-seaters earlier this year.

Having joined with Fox Motorsport, his rivals now include Dayton Coulthard, the son of ex-Formula 1 1driver David Coulthard.

Bullard was subsequently named as the team’s third driver on the 2026 grid.

The move followed an impressive karting career despite a late start in the sport.

Bullard started competing in karting as recently as 2023 aged 16 years old.

His time in the sport saw him win 14 championship titles as well as 200 race wins and 300 podiums.

The recent GB4 event is the next step on his path to a potential F1 career in the future.

Aspiring drivers are able to compete in F4, a direct feeder series to F1, through GB4.

This year represents the fifth season of GB4 after launching back in 2022.

The current line-up of circuits sees eight rounds held at Silverstone and Donington Park.

Next month’s venue, Oulton Park, hosts four rounds over the course of the season. Circuits at Snetterton and Brands Hatch also feature on the current race line-up.

Bullard Sr drama

Former West Ham, Wigan, Fulham and Hull midfielder Bullard was cheering on his son after returning from South Africa following a stint on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Bullard, who first appeared on the reality show in 2014, was caught in a bullying row having been accused of bullying actor Adam Thomas alongside former heavyweight boxing champion David Haye.

It resulted in a studio storm involving all the campmates which was aired on Friday evening.

Having a ringside seat to all the drama made Harry Redknapp quip on talkSPORT that he wondered if he’d accidentally appeared on The Jeremy Kyle Show.
