Newcastle set to explore sale of £55m signing just a year after joining

Newcastle United could sell Yoane Wissa in the summer, talkSPORT understands.

The Magpies signed the DR Congo international from Brentford in a £55million deal in September 2025.

Wissa was a long-term target at St. James’ Park having netted 19 goals in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign.

His move was confirmed on the same day that Alexander Isak left for Liverpool in a British record £125m move.

However, he has scored just three times for Newcastle in 24 matches across all competitions.

The 29-year-old also had to wait until December 6 to make his debut as he recovered from a knee injury.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has handed him just four league starts, with the forward struggling during his first season.

An exit just one year later could happen this summer.

Newcastle summer plans

Newcastle will likely look to bring in some attacking reinforcements as their season looks set for a disappointing end.

They have lost their last five matches in all competitions, four of which have come in the Premier League.

Howe’s side are 14th in the table and are on course to miss out on a European spot.

talkSPORT understands that Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, who has been on loan at Bayern Munich, is a target for Newcastle.

An obligation to buy worth £56.2m was included in the loan deal, as long as certain conditions were met.

Jackson had to play at least 45 minutes of 40 matches but, given he has been back-up to Harry Kane, this has not happened.

Bayern have confirmed that they will not sign him permanently.

The 24-year-old has plenty of Premier League experience, having scored 24 goals in 65 appearances for Chelsea.

Jackson also faces an uncertain future at the Blues, with Joao Pedro netting 19 goals in his debut season.

Emmanuel Emegha is also set to join from sister club RC Strasbourg this summer.
