Premier League winner odds 2026/27: Can Arsenal defend their crown?
The 2026/27 Premier League season is underway and there is plenty to be excited about. Many of the biggest clubs in the division are under new management and there has been plenty of activity in the transfer market too.
The Premier League’s competitiveness makes it the most watched league in the world, but there are still a handful of teams expected to dominate this term. However, we could see some surprise results early on as teams take a while to find their rhythm after the World Cup.
In this article we take a look at the latest Premier League winner odds, before analysing the various contenders for the prize.
A current look at the Premier League winner odds
Here are the 20 teams in the Premier League in 2026/27 and the latest odds on them winning the title, provided by the best football betting sites.
Arsenal are the Premier League title favourites heading into the new campaign, with Manchester City seen as their likeliest challengers. Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are next on the list and offer decent value, followed by Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
Championship play-off winners Hull City are available at the longest odds of all 20 sides, followed by fellow promoted sides Ipswich Town and Coventry City.
Premier League title favourites
The Premier League winner betting odds show there are two clear favourites to finish top of the table: Arsenal and Manchester City. Let’s take a look at why these two teams are ahead of the rest.
Arsenal
After finishing as Premier League runners-up for three seasons in a row, Arsenal finally got their hands on the trophy last term. There were a few nervous moments along the way, but in the end the Gunners finished seven points clear of the chasing pack. They are now looking to keep hold of the prize for at least another campaign.
Mikel Arteta has built his team on solid foundations. Arsenal had the meanest defence in the league last time out, conceding the fewest goals and keeping the most clean sheets. Set-pieces were a major part of their attacking strategy, and Arsenal had a knack for grinding out wins and finding a way to get over the line.
David Raya, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães were the standout performers last season, and all three players will be important again in 2026/27. Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka are Arsenal’s most gifted attackers and that pair will shoulder much of the creative load.
Christos Tzolis has been signed as a replacement for the outgoing Leandro Trossard, while Arsenal have welcomed all-action midfielder Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle United. In terms of depth and cover, the Gunners have the strongest squad in the Premier League.

Manchester City
The Premier League outright odds 2026/27 have Manchester City down as second-favourites, as they look to regain a trophy that has gone elsewhere in the last two campaigns. Pep Guardiola has departed after a glorious decade at the helm, with his former assistant Enzo Maresca employed as the Catalan’s successor.
Needless to say, Maresca has big shoes to fill. Guardiola won six titles at the Etihad Stadium; only Sir Alex Ferguson has been a more successful manager in the Premier League era.
Maresca at least knows the club and the Premier League well, while he plays a similar style to his erstwhile mentor, but it may take City a while to get used to life after Guardiola.
On the plus side, City’s squad does not lack talent. Erling Haaland is the world’s most prolific centre-forward, while Rayan Cherki and Jérémy Doku came on leaps and bounds last time out. Marc Guéhi and Abdukodir Khusanov also formed a promising centre-back partnership in the second half of last season.
They will have to somehow replace World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri in midfield, however, who joined Barcelona in a £65m move. Elliot Anderson could be that guy, having already arrived earlier in the summer for £116m.
Defensive duo John Stones and Nathan Aké, as well as playmaker Bernardo Silva, have also left for pastures new this summer.

Premier League title dark horses
Although Arsenal and Manchester City are obvious title favourites, one of the following dark horses could capitalise if the top two are not on top form.
Chelsea
Chelsea were on course to finish in the top four last season until Enzo Maresca’s dramatic exit around the turn of the year.
Liam Rosenior did not work out as his replacement, but Chelsea should be much more competitive under their new manager Xabi Alonso, who is looking to restore his reputation after a frustrating stint at Real Madrid.
It will probably take the Chelsea squad a little time to get used to Alonso’s methods, although this is a group of players which has grown accustomed to managerial churn in recent years. Chelsea’s absence from Europe could be a boost, though, allowing Alonso more time to work with his charges on the training pitch.
The headline news from the summer transfer market is the addition of Morgan Rogers. There is no doubting the England international’s talent, but a mammoth fee of £117m puts the former Aston Villa man under pressure.
It also remains to be seen how well he works with Cole Palmer, who does his best work in a similar role in attacking midfield.
Chelsea have also signed Marco Palestra, Maxence Lacroix, Emmanuel Emegha, Pep Chavarría, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Valentín Barco and Geovany Quenda in another busy summer at Stamford Bridge. Marc Cucurella, Tyrique George and Andrey Santos have moved on.

Liverpool
Despite winning the league in 2024/25, Arne Slot was fired following an underwhelming second season in the Anfield dugout. Andoni Iraola, who excelled with Bournemouth previously, has replaced him.
The appointment of Iraola, a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa and an advocate for a high-pressing strategy, suggests a return to the ‘heavy metal’ football popularised by Jürgen Klopp. But this is by far the biggest job Iraola has ever had, and he will have to quickly adjust to the additional scrutiny and pressure.
Counterintuitively, Liverpool regressed after Slot had been given the opportunity to bring in more players. The hope at Anfield is that Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak will shine having now had a full season to adapt to their new surroundings, but club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have moved on.
Liverpool have bolstered their attacking options with the acquisition of Víctor Muñoz, while Jérémy Jacquet is set to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back after Ibrahima Konaté’s switch to Real Madrid.

Manchester United
Manchester United had a dismal first half of last season under Ruben Amorim, before Michael Carrick brought about a significant upturn in fortunes as interim boss. Carrick has now been handed the reins on a permanent basis and he will be looking to build on United’s third-place finish in 2025/26.
That will not necessarily be easy, however. United exited both cup competitions early last season and they were entirely absent from Europe. This time around, Carrick will have to balance the Premier League with the Champions League, which will put greater demands on the United squad.
There were positive signs aplenty from United’s new-look front three last campaign, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško settling in well. Bruno Fernandes, who provided a record 21 assists in 2025/26, is one of the best playmakers in world football.
In a bid to strengthen their midfield, United have raided fellow Premier League sides Aston Villa and Chelsea for Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos respectively. Elsewhere, Casemiro and Jadon Sancho were both released when their contracts expired at the end of last season.

Who will look to break up the order?
After back-to-back 17th-place finishes, Tottenham Hotspur are aiming to return to the European conversation this season. Aston Villa have lost some important players to rival Premier League teams, but they can never be written off with Unai Emery at the helm.
Newcastle United, meanwhile, will be led by Matthias Jaissle following Eddie Howe’s exit.
Bournemouth, Brentford, Sunderland, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace have all punched above their weight one way or another in recent seasons, while Nottingham Forest are aiming to climb the division under Oliver Glasner.
Bournemouth, Sunderland, Brighton and Palace will all have European football to contend with this season.

My favourite betting picks ahead of the Premier League season
Here are my recommended bets for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
Premier League dual forecast
This market allows bettors to wager on who will finish in the top two. Arsenal are the team to beat following their success last season and their strengthening over the summer, while Liverpool should improve after a disappointing campaign in 2025/26.
Back Arsenal/Liverpool in a Premier League dual forecast at 4/1 with BetVictor
Top on Christmas Day
Leading the way on 25th December is often seen as a strong indicator of who will go on to win the league, but it is worth noting that the Christmas leaders have won the title 18 times in 34 Premier League campaigns, and have failed to do so on 16 occasions.
Arsenal have a few injury concerns and may therefore have a slower start to this season. Liverpool, on the other hand, could begin quickly before potentially burning out under Andoni Iraola’s high-octane style.
Back the Reds to be top at Christmas at 9/2 with BetVictor
Season handicap
Also not available everywhere – explain what the season handicap is and how it’s calculated, then choose any team and explain why they’ll stay within their given number.
A season handicap covers the entire campaign. The favourites to win the title, in this case, Arsenal start at 0 points. Every other side in the Premier League is then given an artificial headstart.
For example, Manchester City as stronger contenders are assigned a +3 advantage, whereas relegation candidates Ipswich Town are on +43. In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should get much closer to the top this season: they have done some exciting work in the transfer market and do not have any European football to worry about.
Choose Tottenham Hotspur +16 at 16/1 with BetVictor
What do previous Premier League winners have in common?
There are many different ways to win a Premier League title, but there are some common green flags which indicate a team is ready to at least challenge for the prize.
- Winning ugly. The ability to grind out victories when you are not playing well is a positive sign for any would-be challengers.
- Starting strong and/or gathering momentum in the winter months. The games come thick and fast around Christmas, with plenty of points up for grabs. Alternatively, you can leave your competitors trailing in your wake by winning a few matches in a row at the beginning of the season.
- A favourable run-in. If the fixture list throws up some kind fixtures towards the end of the season, that is a huge advantage for a team which aspires to be champions.
- Scoring plenty of goals, and conceding few. This might sound obvious, but Premier League title winners usually possess one of the most prolific attacks in the division as well as one of the most watertight defences. Having the league’s top scorer in your ranks also helps – on which note, we recommend tipping Erling Haaland to finish as the Premier League’s top scorer at 4/6 with Sky Bet.
What other boosts and offers could appear during the Premier League season?
It is worth keeping an eye out for boosts and offers throughout the Premier League season, as bookies can release these at any time. They are usually published ahead of a new Premier League matchday, and common examples include enhanced odds on a player to score or a team to win.
Accumulator boosts are also common, with bookies increasing the odds when bettors make multiple wagers. Money-back promotions are similarly attractive, with punters receiving their stake back as a free bet if certain conditions are met.
FAQs about the Premier League title race
In this section, we provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Premier League title race.
1. How quickly can the picture at the top of the table, and also therefore the odds, change during the season?
The picture at the top of the Premier League table can change quickly, and the odds constantly shift based on events on and sometimes off the field. A statement victory or shock defeat can leave a challenger strengthened or weakened, as can a change of manager, an injury to a key player, or an exciting new signing.
It is worth monitoring the Premier League title odds throughout the season to see whether there is value to exploit. For example, if you are convinced that Manchester City will win the Premier League title even after a disappointing defeat, you might find better odds than were available before the game they lost.
2. How many points does a team usually need to win the Premier League?
There is no fixed tally which guarantees a team the Premier League title (just ask Liverpool, who finished second on 97 in 2018/19). Over the last five seasons, the Premier League champions have accumulated an average of 88.4 points.
Having previously required a total in the late 80s or 90s over the last decade the last two champions finished with a tally in the mid-80s.
However, because the runners-up have often finished a distance behind the title winners, a lower total would have been sufficient to claim the prize. Indeed, you would have won the league with 79 points in 2025/26 or 75 in 2024/25.
3. How often has the Premier League title been successfully defended?
Since the launch of the Premier League in 1992, only three clubs have won more than one championship on the bounce: Manchester United (1992/93 and 1993/94; 1995/96 and 1996/97; 1998/99, 1999/00 and 2000/01; 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09) Chelsea (2004/05 and 2005/06) and Manchester City (2016/17 and 2017/18; 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24).
Interestingly, the current champions Arsenal have won the Premier League title four times in the division’s current incarnation, but they have never gone back-to-back. You have to go back to the 1930s for the last time Arsenal won the title in consecutive years.
4. How often have the bookies been right with the pre-season title favourites?
In the last six Premier League seasons, the bookies have correctly predicted the champions on three occasions: 2021/22 (Manchester City), 2022/23 (Manchester City) and 2023/24 (Manchester City).
They have also been wrong three times. In 2020/21, the favourites were Liverpool but Manchester City won the title. In 2024/25, those two clubs swapped positions. And in 2025/26, Liverpool were available at the shortest odds pre-season, yet Arsenal were the title winners.
