JB Bickerstaff spoke up about how the Detroit Pistons need to be careful when it comes to guarding James Harden throughout their East Semifinals series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Detroit got off to a strong start in the series, defending homecourt by winning Games 1 and 2. This featured incredible defense against Cleveland’s best stars in Donovan Mitchell and Harden. The latter heavily struggled in Game 2, garnering a lot of criticism from fans for his underwhelming displays.

Harden fired back with a better showing in Game 3, scoring nine of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to get Cleveland its first win in the series. Bickerstaff talked about Harden ahead of Game 4 on Monday night, stating how Detroit must act when it comes to keeping Harden in check.

“You have to have discipline and understand he does kick his feet out. He’s elite at drawing those and has been for his whole career. More contesting on the side if possible, as opposed to straight on,” Bickerstaff said, via reporter Hunter Patterson.

JB Bickerstaff is right about the Pistons needing to have caution about James Harden’s tendencies to draw fouls.

While Harden is no longer at the peak of his powers, he can still produce as one of the best veteran stars in the league. His incredible scoring and playmaking abilities allow him to keep opponents on their heels, giving Cleveland a significant advantage.

The Pistons have enjoyed incredible success after winning their first playoff series since 2008. They are now two wins away from making their first East Finals since 2008, meaning they have a lot at stake to win in enemy territory and continue their remarkable playoff run.
