Peyton Manning spearheading World Series of Poker’s ESPN return

Peyton Manning is making a return…no, not that kind.

The Super Bowl champion is leading the return of the World Series of Poker to ESPN. Last year, it was on CBS Sports Network and PokerGo, but hasn’t been on ESPN since 2021.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Omaha Productions to lead our broadcast production as we return to ESPN,” said Ty Stewart, CEO of the World Series of Poker, per The Hollywood Reporter. “The WSOP Main Event and Final Table are the most exciting moments of the year for poker fans. Omaha understands how to tell stories to fans around live competition, which will elevate our broadcasts to new heights. We’re excited to have them bring this year’s event to viewers as WSOP returns to ESPN platforms.”

Manning created the production company in 2020 alongside veteran television producer Jamie Horowitz.

World Series of Poker will also have commentary from Ali Nejad, Nick Schulman, Lon McEachern and Norman Chad, who will be announcers during the series.

“As a company, we continue to look for opportunities that allow us to grow and tell compelling stories across sports and entertainment,” said Dan Gati, head of content at Omaha Productions. “Producing the World Series of Poker Main Event & Main Event Final Table gives us an exciting opportunity to expand our live event slate and bring our production approach to one of the most recognizable competitions in sports and entertainment.”

The World Series of Poker got its start in 1970 and one of the rules it still has today is the $10,000 buy-in for the Main Event. The legendary series is also known for its timeless WSOP bracelets, trophies, and rings for the winners.

The start date for the series has not yet been announced.
