Pete Crow-Armstrong’s cycle makes Cubs history not seen since 1993

The Chicago Cubs received a historic performance Monday at Wrigley Field, even as the final score remains unsettled. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit for the cycle vs. the Colorado Rockies, giving Chicago a rare franchise milestone during a one-run game.

Crow-Armstrong recorded a home run, triple, double, and single, completing MLB’s first cycle of the 2026 season. The 24-year-old did it in reverse order, opening with a 434-foot leadoff homer before adding a stand-up triple in the third, a double in the fifth and a single in the seventh.

Let’s Talk with Ehron (@JustEhron) posted the milestone on X, formerly Twitter, noting the Mark Grace connection and the long wait for another left-handed Cubs hitter to do it.

“PCA is the 11th player to have hit for the cycle, and the first lefty to hit for the cycle for the #Cubs since Mark Grace”

That 1993 link gave the achievement extra weight. Grace last produced a left-handed Cubs cycle on May 9, 1993, making Crow-Armstrong’s night a rare marker in franchise history.

The sequence also showed Crow-Armstrong’s full offensive range. Michael Lorenzen allowed his first three hits before Brennan Bernardino surrendered the 99.6 mph single that finished the cycle.

For the Cubs, this was not just another strong offensive game. It became the 13th cycle in franchise history and Crow-Armstrong’s first career cycle.

The youth angle added another layer. Crow-Armstrong became the youngest Cubs player to hit for the cycle since Randy Hundley in 1966, strengthening the historical weight.

The Rockies still carried the lead late, keeping the night from becoming a clean celebration for Chicago in front of a tense home crowd at Wrigley.

The Cubs have watched Crow-Armstrong grow into a dynamic two-way force. Now, Chicago trails 4-3 heading to the bottom of the ninth, needing one final rally to turn his historic night into a comeback win.
