Patrick Mahomes is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

Since joining the league in 2017, Mahomes has won three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs, and is widely considered one of the best ever to do it.

On Saturday, he found himself being compared to Miami Dolphins quarterback Malik Willis, but not on NFL terms.

Willis was invited to throw the first pitch at Friday’s Miami Marlins game, and it didn’t exactly wow Dolphins fans.

The QB air-mailed his ball over the honorary catcher’s head, bouncing off the back wall, and all he could do was smile.

Of course, the clip instantly went viral, and Willis claimed that he slipped while throwing.

Mahomes’ first pitch that he threw at a Texas Rangers game did the rounds on social media soon later.

“Chill chill chill. Thought we deleted all footage of this,” Mahomes tweeted.

Similar to Willis, Mahomes sent the pitch over the head of the catcher, bouncing off the back wall.

Expectations for the Chiefs superstar were higher than Willis, given the fact he was a highly regarded two-way baseball prodigy at high school and played at college level.

At high school, he often reached mid-90s on the radar gun, with reports of him throwing up to 97 mph, and in his senior year (2014), he threw a no-hitter against Mount Pleasant High School, recording 16 strikeouts in a 2-1 victory.

He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB Draft, though he did not sign due to his commitment to Texas Tech.

Willis is also no stranger to baseball, having hit .487 in 20 games at Roswell High School in Georgia.

But the new Dolphins quarterback will have more important things on his mind this season, than impressing with a first pitch.

After spending two seasons as the Green Bay Packers backup, Willis will get his chance as a starter, after the Dolphins released Tua Tagovailoa.

He has passed for 972 yards and six touchdowns with zero interceptions in 11 appearances.

The former Packer signed a three-year, $67.5 million contract with $45 million guaranteed, marking the start of a new era for Miami.

He will link up with new head coach Jeff Hafley, and general manager John Eric-Sullivan who both came directly from the Packers.

In the end, Dolphins fans will be more concerned about what Willis can do on an NFL field.
