Pakistan Women announce ODI squad for Zimbabwe series, Momina Riasat earns maiden call-up

Pakistan have announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, set to begin on May 4, as part of their preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June. The series also holds significance within the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle, making it an important assignment for both teams. A notable inclusion in the squad is Momina Riasat, who has earned her maiden ODI call-up, signaling Pakistan’s intent to test new talent ahead of major tournaments.

The selectors have retained a largely familiar core around Momina's inclusion, with experienced players such as Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin also featuring in the squad.

The side will be captained by Fatima Sana, who faces the challenge of improving the team’s recent performances following their tour of South Africa. Pakistan were beaten 2-1 in both the ODI and T20I series against the Proteas, highlighting areas that need refinement. Despite those setbacks, the team has shown glimpses of promise and will look to build consistency during the Zimbabwe series.

Currently placed fifth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with two points, Pakistan will aim to climb the table with a strong showing at home. Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will be touring Pakistan for the first time in a white-ball series, adding an extra layer of excitement to the contest.

The visitors are scheduled to arrive in Karachi on April 29 and will train at the National Bank Stadium before the series begins. All matches, including the ODIs and subsequent T20Is, will be played at the same venue.
