Padres’ new owner Kwanza Jones drops enthusiastic ‘win it all’ prediction
The San Diego Padres have a new ownership group after Jose E. Feliciano and his wife/business partner, Kwanza Jones, purchased the franchise for an MLB record high of $3.9 billion. With the sale finalized in mid-August, Jones was incredibly enthusiastic about the purchase and fully believes the team can win a World Series.
While talking with media members on Monday, Jones was seemingly over the moon to be one of the new owners of the Padres. While she did not pick a specific year for San Diego to win a title, the goal is incredibly clear with the new owners: win a championship.
“We gonna win,” Jones said. “We gonna win! Win it all!”

Overall, Jones appeared thankful for the opportunity to step in as an owner of the Padres. Not only did she give the team a shoutout, but she claimed the organization is in it together to lead the way to what they hope will be World Series wins.
Kwanza Jones made history as the first black woman to become a majority owner of an MLB franchise. She is well known for being an American artist, investor, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Meanwhile, Jose E. Feliciano is a billionaire investor and a co-founder of Clearlake Capital.
This season, the Padres are right in the mix for the playoffs, as the club is sixth in the playoff rankings. That’s good enough for a spot in the Wild Card. The organization has made aggressive moves in the past, so it will be interesting to see how the new ownership group operates things moving forward.
