Packers’ Javon Hargrave confirms all is well with injury guarantee coming off PUP

There is some good news on the way for Green Bay Packers fans. Javon Hargrave says he is doing better with his injury, after being placed earlier on the PUP list. PUP stands for physically unable to perform.

“Javon Hargrave says knee injury that put him on PUP was just a “flare up” from offseason conditioning. He’s not worried about it going forward,” USA Today Network reporter Ryan Wood posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Hargrave appears to be ready to go.

“If we were playing tomorrow, I’d be playing tomorrow,” Hargrave said.

This is great news for the Packers defense. Green Bay is already without star Micah Parsons, who is recovering from surgery. Parsons is expected to play this season, but not at the start of the campaign.

Hargrave helps a Packers defense that really needs depth on the defensive line. The defensive tackle is a new addition to Green Bay this season. He spent the 2025 season with the Minnesota Vikings, where he posted 3.5 sacks.

Packers hoping for a successful 2026 season

The Packers have high hopes for this upcoming season. Green Bay made the NFL Playoffs in 2025, where they lost a close game to their division rival the Chicago Bears.

Green Bay just completed Family Night at training camp, and it didn’t go the way the team had expected. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said the team played sloppy football, with all sorts of mistakes.

“Yeah, I thought it was definitely sloppy,” LaFleur said, per the team. “It was our biggest workload we’ve had yet to date. So, I think it was really good for those guys to have to fight through fatigue. We’ll look at it.”

The Packers did have one amazing highlight though on Family Night. Packers quarterback Jordan Love found Matthew Golden for a 50-plus yard touchdown pass.

“I feel like the chemistry between us is growing for sure,” Golden said of his connection with Love.

The Packers would love to have Hargrave when NFL preseason games start. Green Bay gets it going with an August 13 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
