Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton hit with savage roasts from fans over Cubs first pitch

Perhaps Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton should stick to basketball for now.

On Thursday, Haliburton was given the honor of throwing the first pitch for the Chicago Cubs in their game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.

Haliburton, who was born and raised in Wisconsin, grew up cheering for the Brewers. But because of the recent rivalry between the Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks, he said Wisconsin has not been happy with him. In fact, the Brewers rescinded their invitation to the talented guard to toss the first pitch last year.

Hence, his appearance for the Cubs, wearing a team jersey to boot, was a clapback. The Cubs beat the Brewers, 2-1.

The 26-year-old Haliburton, however, still did not escape the hilarious wrath of fans on X.

“Incredibly talented b-ball athlete. Looks like a Make-A-Wish kid throwing a baseball. #baseballishard,” said @MupperDecker.

“Is that Urkel? Respect lost with that throw,” added @TPated.

“Why is my boy dressed like Ellen DeGeneres?” asked @OneLegSoldMe.

“Pitch looked worse than his jumper,” wrote @CreamCityReport.

“Haliburton to the (Chicago) Bulls confirmed,” commented @CoolJtj.

If there were an All-Petty First Team in the NBA, Haliburton would definitely be in the running.

It is cool to see Haliburton having fun as he makes his much-awaited return to action for the Pacers. He sat out last season due to the Achilles injury he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in 2025, which will forever be seared into the memories of people in Indiana.

He has pushed himself hard in his rehabilitation, and he is expected to suit up when the Pacers open their new season against the New Orleans Pelicans.
