Pacers’ fan Grace from viral couple speaks out over Shaq ‘creepy’ comments

Grace Camille and Michael went viral last week after their appearance during the Indiana Pacers’ game against the Brooklyn Nets. The couple was catapulted into the spotlight, which garnered a visit to Inside the NBA with host Ernie Johnson, and analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith. Camille went viral again for her comments about Shaq.

“Shaq was like a creepy horny uncle trying to embarrass his nephew and I went along with it until the big got embarrassing and I was like[, ‘] Alright chill,” Grace wrote as Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” played. “I’m glad my bf got to meet the people whose videos he shows me constantly but God I am ready to be done with Sports people.

“I have found u generally exhausting and, forgive me for saying so, I mean this respectfully, not smart in the ways that matter to me. TO ME,” she continued.

The moment came after Shaw asked Michael to propose to Grace, whom he’s been dating for four years. The four-time NBA champion said that if Michael did, he would purchase the engagement ring. After the comments went viral, Grace clarified her previous comments.

“I am a private person that has been thrown into the public eye unexpectedly and am doing my best to navigate it with good humor. The two of us had a wonderful time on the show- Shaq did absolutely nothing to make us uncomfortable and I do not view him as ‘creepy’ at all,” Grace exclusively shared with ClutchPoints in a statement. “I was attempting a joke about my flustered reaction in the midst of a high pressure situation. We have nothing but admiration and appreciation for the hosts hospitality and the joy they’ve brought us over the years. Go Pacers.”

The couple originally went viral for Grace’s expression during her conversation with Michael at the Pacers game.

“We were talking about the academic rigor of a liberal arts education, and essentially how it can be updated for the current economic status and job market,” Michael told Sports Illustrated about the viral moment.

“Even saying that out loud, I can hear you yawning through the phone,” Grace told the outlet. ” … The thing is, Michael and I have been together for four years—wonderful, happy years. But that’s just what we do. We both just talk. He’s frighteningly smart. So what everyone witnessed was me listening to his well-articulated thoughts and responding with what you saw, which was ‘What the f— are you talking about?’
