Orioles’ Jackson Holliday gets brutally honest on returning from injury
Jackson Holliday made his season debut on May 19 and has had the benefit of having a homestand to make him comfortable. The Baltimore Orioles second baseman has had a rough start to the season, but has had a few great games to give him momentum.
In nine games, the Orioles are 5-4, and Holliday is hitting .217 with five hits, one home run, four RBIs, three stolen bases, and an OPS of .644. His only extra-base hit was the long ball against the Detroit Tigers in his third game back.
As he is settling back into big league play, Holliday talked to Melanie Newman at MASN and answered some questions. Holliday would get brutally honest on his return from the hand injury.
How has it been settling back into Baltimore? What lessons can marriage teach a baseball player? How to balance honoring the past while forging your own legacy?

“It’s been great, it’s definitely nice to be back in one spot,” Holliday said. It’s been nice to settled and be back with the guys and playing good baseball lately.”
The Orioles have been playing very good baseball in their last seven games. They are 5-2 with series wins over the Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays. Baltimore lost the first series against Tampa Bay when Holliday returned, but they played again a week later, and the O’s would sweep their division rival. The Orioles did lose the series opener to the Toronto Blue Jays, but there are three games left in the series for them to turn it around and win the series.
This is a very important series, even though the season is still young. The Jays and O’s are both going to be battling for the third spot in the AL East division. The Rays have already built up an eight-game lead over Toronto and are 10 games ahead of Baltimore. It’s going to take a lot for them to gain that ground. These two teams are going to be fighting for the Wild Card, and every one of these games matters when battling a similarly ranked opponent.
