Oregon announces cancellation of Baylor series

While the 2026-27 campaign is the upcoming college football season, the Oregon Ducks are focused on making changes to their schedule in the following year. As a result, the program is removing its future games against the Baylor Bears and replacing them with matchups against different teams.

Oregon officially announced that the program mutually agreed with Baylor to cancel their games in 2027 and 2028. In the same announcement, the Ducks stated that they will be taking on the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at home in the 2027-208 season.

“More future scheduling updates: Oregon has added a game against Coastal Carolina in 2027, and UO and Baylor have mutually agreed to cancel the 2027-2028 home-and-home series,” announced the Ducks’ football program.

Oregon will now be playing Coastal Carolina in Autzen Stadium on September 11, 2027. The program has not yet found a replacement game for 2028 after canceling the Baylor series. However, that announcement should come in due time.

While the Ducks are setting up their schedule for down the road, Oregon is set to begin the 2026-27 campaign with a season opener Week 1 matchup against the Boise State Broncos. The last time these two teams faced off came in the 2024-25 season, where the Ducks took home a close 37-34 win over the Broncos.

Dan Lanning and his program are still seeking their first-ever national championship win. There was some buzz that last year could have been the year to do it, but Oregon ran into Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers in the third round of the College Football Playoff, losing the Peach Bowl 56-22.

After some big roster acquisitions this offseason, look for the Ducks to be one of the most competitive teams in college football once again. After losing in the CFP two years straight, Lanning and his team may have a chip on their shoulders for next season.
