Olivia Miles gets brutally honest on Azzi Fudd being WNBA No. 1 overall pick

The Minnesota Lynx are the WNBA’s best team even with Napheesa Collier on the bench. Minnesota crushed Dallas 100-76 on Tuesday in a game where Olivia Miles outplayed Azzi Fudd in an epic rookie battle. Miles does not appear to have any bad blood against Fudd despite how the 2026 WNBA Draft turned out.

Miles gave an honest answer when asked about playing against Fudd, who went one spot ahead of her in the draft.

“Yeah Azzi’s a great player, fully deserved to go number one,” Miles told reporters after Tuesday’s game. “She is a brilliant shooter, one of the best we’ve ever seen in the game. But obviously against any team I love to compete and love to compete with my squad. We have a point to prove against anyone in this league, especially in the Commissioner’s Cup when we know what’s on the line.”

The rookie guard dominated, leading Minnesota in scoring with 24 points after going 7-of-10 from the field. She also contributed seven rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block in her 31 minutes on the court.

Miles explained that she’s been playing against Fudd since they were both very young. Playing against each other is a constant reminder of how far both players have come.

“I love the matchups. Dallas has great guards, but it’s always fun to play against someone who is in your class. We’ve been competing since we were young against each other,” Miles added. “It’s cool to see where we are now basically and we always acknowledge that before the game.”

Minnesota is now 10-2 on the season and sitting atop the WNBA standings. They need to get ready for a true slugest in their next matchup.

Next up for the Lynx is a road game against the Aces on June 13th at 8PM ET.
