Ole Miss football’s Kewan Lacy has zero interest in talking to Lane Kiffin
The Ole Miss football team is expecting big things during the 2026 season from running back Kewan Lacy. Lacy is returning to a Rebels team that made the College Football Playoff in 2025. Lacy was asked recently if he has spoken with his former head coach, Lane Kiffin.
“Nah, man,” Lacy said, per On3. “At the end of the day, we’re out there on the field, so we just have to do our job, and as long as everybody’s doing their job on the field, we can have the best outcome.”
Kiffin coached Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff in 2025, but left the school for LSU before the CFP began. Kiffin received a lot of criticism for that decision. He now coaches the Tigers, who will play Ole Miss this upcoming season.
Lacy was an invaluable part of Kiffin’s final Ole Miss team. In 2025, the Rebels running back rushed for 1,567 yards and 24 touchdowns. Even with a coaching change, the running back has stayed loyal to Ole Miss.
“I really didn’t have any reason to hit the portal,” Lacy said.
Ole Miss fans believe that Lacy can help lead the team to a national championship in 2026. The running back had several stellar games in 2025, including a 224-yard rushing performance in a win over Florida.
The Rebels reached the CFP semi-final in 2025. Ole Miss lost to Miami, after having defeated Tulane and Georgia. In the loss to Miami, Lacy rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Ole Miss kicks off the 2026 football season with a game against Louisville, on September 6. The Rebels play Kiffin and LSU on September 19. Lacy surely has that date circled on his calendar.
Pete Golding is now the Rebels’ head coach. He previously worked as defensive coordinator under Kiffin.
