Oilers’ Jason Dickinson speaks out after clutch Game 1 performance vs. Ducks
The Edmonton Oilers are feeling good after picking up a win in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series with the Anaheim Ducks. Not only did the Oilers have Leon Draisaitl back on the ice, but the team also got an outstanding performance from Jason Dickinson.
Dickinson scored two goals in Game 1 for Edmonton, as the Oilers defeated Anaheim 4-3. Like Draisaitl, Dickinson was also returning from an injury.
“I just had to get my strength back to me and just work towards being able to play, that was obviously the first step, being able to make sure I was strong enough to battle,” Dickinson said, per NHL.com. “The results are because of my process; keeping it simple and go to the net and good things happen. That’s really all that was, was move my legs and let the game come to me.”
The Oilers have a 1-0 lead in the series, with Game 2 scheduled for Wednesday night.
Jason Dickinson had a memorable performance for the Oilers
Dickinson’s goals both came at big moments. His second goal in particular tied the game in the third period. It was the first time in six years that the center was skating in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
“I kind of chuckled at it early on because I thought I would be back, and then five years went by and I hadn’t seen playoffs,” Dickinson added. “You want to play in these moments, you want to play in these games because it makes everything worth it, all the bumps, bruises, the training, all the hours spent away from the family, not doing the things your friends are doing because you have something you’re chasing. It’s great to be a part of it and really, it’s all about going out there and competing with these guys.”
Oilers fans hope that Dickinson has more performances like this in him.
