NYC MTA closes 7 train platform, causing chaos after AEW Double or Nothing 2026

While Tony Khan and team produced one of the most successful PLEs of the year in AEW Double or Nothing, the PPV reportedly finished on a tragic note. Shortly after the show finished, reports and rumors emerged that fans leaving the arena found themselves in worrying conditions. After the show concluded, several fans found themselves stranded at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. Several fans even shared their experiences on the internet.

Double or Nothing began at 8:00 PM/ET in May. 24, 2026. After the main card of the show ended after four hours, fans started exiting the arena. However, already late, several fans started posting how difficult it became for them to exit the area, reach their residence, or home.

Several fans posted video clips on X (formerly known as Twitter) stating that only one ramp was available for all the fans to access the 7 train parking lot outside the stadium. It was also noted that there were no crowd control arrangements made by the management or law enforcement to ensure the smooth exit of fans from the venue.

“MTA locked the entrance/exit of the 7 train platform and trapped 10k+ people on the ramp. No staff, no police, nobody to direct us where to go,” wrote one fan. While another one commented, “Fans forced to take a single ramp to access the 7 train and parking lot after [AEW] Double or Nothing at Louis Armstrong Stadium. Not a single [MTA]
or {NYPD] worker to assist with the crowd control.”

Aside from fans, several noted and reputed wrestling journalists also reacted to the situation on the internet, requesting an earlier start time for PPVs taking place on the East Coast of the USA.
