Norwich City vs Coventry City predictions and betting tips – Sky Blues set to end Norwich winning streak

Top-of-the-table Coventry City head to relegation-threatened Norwich City on Monday night in the EFL Championship.

Despite their contrasting league positions, both sides arrive in good form, although hosting the Sky Blues represents Norwich’s stiffest test yet as they continue their revival under Philippe Clement.

Norwich vs Coventry predictions

Still in the midst of a relegation battle, three wins in their last four matches have lifted Norwich City out of the bottom three.

The Canaries are still only one point from safety, but their recent run of form has given fans renewed belief that survival is achievable.

At the beginning of the season, a relegation dog-fight wasn’t what was expected at Carrow Road.

Following an impressive campaign with Bristol City last term, Liam Manning was appointed as Canaries’ boss with the remit of taking Norwich to the next level and pushing for a place in the promotion shake-up.

However, it quickly became clear that things were heading in the opposite direction, and Manning was dismissed after a 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Matchday 15.

Philippe Clement took over the reins in November. While the managerial change did not bring immediate results, there is now clear progress, with the Canaries collecting 21 points from their 13 league matches under the Belgian.

Further highlighting that improvement, Norwich thrashed West Brom 5-0 away from home in their most recent Championship outing. Goals from Oscar Schwartau, Ali Ahmed, Anis Ben Slimane, Benjamin Chrisene and Mathias Kvistgaarden sealed the emphatic win.

After a sticky spell over the Christmas and New Year period, Frank Lampard’s Coventry City have started to find some form again with successive home wins over Leicester City and Millwall.

The Sky Blues were forced to come from behind against Leicester, with second-half goals from Ellis Simms and Haji Wright securing a 2-1 victory and ending a four-match winless run in all competitions.

Coventry then followed that up with another 2-1 success against Millwall at the CBS Arena three days later, although it could be argued it was a lucky win.

Goals from former Millwall winger Romain Esse and Haji Wright, again, were enough to give the Sky Blues the three points. But the Londoners will feel they let the league leaders off the hook.

After having a lot of injuries to cope with over recent weeks, Frank Lampard’s squad is now getting back to full strength with the recent return of key players like Brandon Thomas-Asante and Victor Torp.

Further boosting the Sky Blues for the trip to East Anglia is the return from suspension of Bobby Thomas. The key central defender is also carrying an injury niggle. But if Thomas is fit, he should come straight back into Coventry’s starting line-up, giving them added aerial presence at both ends of the pitch.

Should Thomas fail to recover, Joel Latibeaudiere is likely to continue in his place.

Norwich vs Coventry betting tips

The teams drew 1-1 at the CBS Arena earlier in the season in a match dominated by Coventry. Despite having 22 shots at goal to Norwich’s two, Frank Lampard’s team needed a 96th-minute equaliser from Haji Wright to secure a point.

Find out if the Sky Blues will be as dominant in our Norwich vs Coventry tips:

Plenty of goals with the Sky Blues set to avoid defeat

Over 2.5 goals have been covered in three of Norwich’s previous four matches in the Championship. It has also been covered in Coventry’s previous three league outings.

Both teams are on a two-match winning streak in the league. However, as the best team in the division this season, we are edging towards Coventry leaving Carrow Road with at least a share of the points.

The Sky Blues demonstrated in their 2-1 win over Millwall that they are finding ways to get results, so our tip is for Coventry to win or draw and the match to have over 2.5 goals.

We are taking out some insurance on the Sky Blues and covering the draw, as after all, Norwich are on home turf and in good form. This wager covers a third successive 2-1 win for Coventry, or results like a 2-2 or 3-3 draw.

Coventry to continue recent good goalscoring form

Coventry have scored two goals in their last three league matches and now have all their attacking weapons fit and available again.

Along with the return to fitness of Brandon Thomas-Asante, the Sky Blues have also added Romain Esse and Yang Min-hyeok to their ranks in January.

Yang is yet to get any game time, but Esse has started both of Coventry’s last two matches, scoring his first goal for the club in Tuesday’s win over Millwall.

The Sky Blues have tended to share the goals around in recent weeks, so rather than focusing on an individual, we are siding with the team to score two or more for a fourth successive match.

Fiery encounter on the cards

There were three cards in Coventry’s match with Millwall, five in their M69 derby with Leicester and five in their fiery encounter with Birmingham. Coventry away games have also averaged four cards per match this season.

Furthermore, there were eight cards in the reverse fixture at the CBS earlier in the season, suggesting there is a competitive edge between these two teams.

There is plenty at stake for both sides at their respective ends of the table. So we should expect to see a tasty clash with plenty of cards when they meet tonight.
