Noah Lyles and Gout Gout race in training weeks before first competitive showdown
Noah Lyles wasn’t wrong when he described a tag team of himself and Australian sprint prodigy Gout Gout a ‘cheat code’.
Lyles, the reigning 100m Olympic champion, linked up with Gout for a training session in Miami.

Parts of the session were captured in a hype video Lyles shared on social media.
In the clip, Lyles said: “Find your why.
“Why are you running? Why do you want to be the best? What are you going to do once you become the best?”
Lyles added: “I don’t see why we stop winning. Seems to be working so far.”
Early sign of things to come?
In another clip, reposted by the Track and Field Gazette on X, Gout and Lyles are seen doing block starts before launching into a 100m sprint.
With Gout’s coach Di Sheppard keeping a watchful eye, the duo explode out of the blocks, with Lyles marginally quicker than the Aussie teenager.
Lyles’ superior pace in the 100m should come as no surprise given his Olympic-winning time was 9.79 seconds.
As for Gout, he is yet to legally break the 10-second barrier in the 100m.
However, the 18-year-old has excelled in the 200m.
Gout finished first in the 200m with a remarkable time of 19.67 at this year’s Australian Athletics Championship.

The teenage sensation’s time would have been good enough for a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.
But what was even more intriguing about Gout’s time was that his run was quicker than what Usain Bolt managed in the 200m at the same age, with the Jamaican superstar clocking in at 19.93 seconds in 2004.
Gout’s time of 19.67 also set the world record for the quickest under-20 time in the 200m.
When will Lyles and Gout race competitively?
With Gout’s stock continuing to rise at a startling rate, all eyes will be on the Ostrava Golden Spike in June as the Australian will race against Lyles competitively for the first time.
The duo will line up in the 150m event, scheduled to take place on June 16.
But before Lyles and Gout face off, the Aussie is expected to make his senior Diamond League debut in Norway on June 10.

In what promises to be another mouthwatering match-up, Gout is anticipated to go up against reigning 200m Olympic king Letsile Tebogo.
Gout’s senior Diamond League debut will also be ideal preparation for the World Athletics U20 Championships, due to be held in Oregon in August.
