No. 3 seed’s QB vows to play through broken leg with $200million deal on line as worrying footage emerges
After Saquon Barkley won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, Daniel Jones became the latest star to thrive after leaving the New York Giants.
Having joined the Minnesota Vikings after being released in 2024, Jones agreed a one-year deal worth $14 million with the Indianapolis Colts to provide competition to Anthony Richardson.
The 28-year-old blew away his younger rival and led his team to 8-3 — good enough for the No. 3 seed in the AFC as things stand.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting that the organization is ‘all-in’ on keeping Jones for the long haul and spending two first-round picks to acquire cornerback Sauce Gardner suggests confidence is high.
But the passer picked up an injury in an overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Shane Steichen batted away questions, but NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport claims that Jones has a fractured fibula.
The former Giant wouldn’t confirm the reports, but is adamant that he is good to go ahead of a clash with a formidable Houston Texans defense on Sunday.
“Yeah, I’m good. I’m all good. I’ll be ready to go on Sunday. Obviously was out there last week. I’m good to go,” he said.
Asked for more information, he added: “Just something that kind of was hanging over and realized it last week and yeah, just been trying to get treatment and make sure I’m in the best spot I can be.”
Jones’ determination is admirable, but fresh footage of the Colts star appearing in huge discomfort in practice has fans concerned.
He looked cumbersome when taking dropbacks and throwing the ball in a short clip posted by beat writer James Boyd.
“QB Daniel Jones throwing a couple play action passes,” the reporter wrote on X. “Doesn’t look as fluid or fast as normal, presumably due to his fibula injury.

“He also hasn’t participated in every practice rep, so that leads me to think he’ll be listed as a limited participant today.”
Fans are understandably worried about the potential devastating impact losing Jones could make to their surprise playoff charge.
“I’m sorry but it looks like he’s hurting bad. That’s not good going forward. Season hangs in the balance,” wrote one.
“You could tell he was feeling it Sunday. If he start and he gets injured we riot. Make the man rest,” another added.
Daniel Jones contract latest
Jones also has a lot on the line. His market value has shot up thanks to an impressive season
“Jones has a chance to become the biggest earner in the free agency class,” wrote Fowler.

Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold managed to revive their careers having flamed out at the franchise that drafted them in the top 10.
Both managed to turn their revivals into three-year deals in the $100 million range — Fowler thinks Jones can aim higher, with the Vikings also potentially showing interest.
He wrote: “Jones would totally be justified asking for that … with interest.”
Earlier in November, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggested a four-year contract worth $200 million — a figure that seems to tally with the situation.
That would put Jones just outside the top earners in the quarterback position in terms of yearly salary and potentially allow him to cash in on one more big contract if he plays well.
He will, of course, have to continue to perform and avoid injury or the numbers will start falling.
Easier said than done when the Texans boast two pass-rushers with double-digit sacks on the season.
