Nick Wright reveals where Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander falls among top-10 all-time guards
The Oklahoma City Thunder have had a lot of success over the past two seasons, and they’ve been led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is now a back-to-back MVP winner. With his accomplishments, many are now looking to see where he could rank amongst some of the best guards to ever play the game.
Nick Wright recently shared his opinion, and he has Gilgeous-Alexander in his top 10 guards of all-time.
“There are only four guards that you can say without a doubt, inarguably, undeniably, there is no case to be made against it,” Wright said on his show. “Had better careers, were better than him. Michael, Magic, Kobe, Steph. Now, in my opinion, Jerry West, Oscar Robertson, and Isiah Thomas, and I’m not going to argue with folks on the internet about Isaiah Thomas when you compare their numbers, Isiah Thomas was not a numbers guy. He was a ‘I played in one of the hardest eras ever and I beat everybody that mattered’ guy, and that dated from college to the pro. But West, Oscar, Isiah, to me, are also ahead of him. And he is eye-to-eye now with Dwyane Wade.
Nick Wright on where Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stacks up at this moment historically:

“So he is, without a doubt, one of the 10 greatest guards ever. In my opinion, he is right now 9th. If they win the title, he’ll leap Wade and be 8th. But if somebody wants to sit here and make the case he’s 5th, you can make that case.”
That seems to be a fair assessment of Gilgeous-Alexander, and the scary thing is that he has a chance to continue to climb the rankings. The Thunder have a chance to win more championships, and Gilgeous-Alexander is only going to get better as his career continues.
It will be interesting to see where he finishes when it’s all said and done.
