NFL Insider dubs Texans ‘one of the more impressive rebuilds we’ve seen in the NFL’
The Houston Texans recently punched their ticket to the divisional round of the playoffs with a dominant road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round. CJ Stroud turned in a performance to forget in this one, but the Texans’ vaunted defense showed up in full force, limiting the Steelers to just six points and scoring multiple touchdowns in its own right in the win.
The Steelers have now won a playoff game in each of the last three seasons, and will look to break their ugly divisional round losing streak on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Recently, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky had high praise for the way the Texans have been able to rebuild over the last few seasons.
“This is an absolute rocketship when it comes to player acquisition and success,” said Orlovsky, per NFL on ESPN on X, formerly Twitter. “…In the last three years, this team has basically added 20 starters. We only play with 22… now they’re legit Super Bowl contenders. It’s been one of the more impressive rebuilds we’ve seen in the NFL.”
The Texans have indeed had incredible success over the last few NFL Drafts on both sides of the ball, and their defense has been far and away the best unit in the league throughout this season, keeping the team afloat despite their ugly 0-3 start to the campaign.
The Texans will need Stroud and the offense to hold up their end of the bargain on Sunday against a Patriots team that cruised to the divisional round with a comfortable home win over the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend.
In any case, the Steelers and Patriots are set to kick off on Sunday at 3:30 pm ET from Foxborough, with the winner moving on to the AFC Championship Game and the loser going home.
