New injury concern for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies four months before World Cup
Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies was forced off through injury in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Canadian picked up the injury following a foul by Frankfurt’s Jean-Mattéo Bahoya in the first half.

Davies attempted to play on and bravely made it until the interval.
However, he was fouled again early in the second half, this time by Mahmoud Dahoud, and appeared to be in some discomfort.
Early exit
The 25-year-old covered his face with his shirt as he was comforted by his teammates before hobbling off in the 50th minute.
The injury comes just just weeks after his return from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear which ruled him out of the first four months of the season.
The extent of the injury is yet to be determined with the early signs coming out of Bayern proving to be conflicting.
Speaking after the game, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl suggested Davies could be facing a significant muscular injury.
“It looked like it might be something longer-term. It has to be something muscular,” Eberl told Abendzeitung München.
“He’s already being examined.”
Meanwhile, Bayern boss Vincent Kompany took a more assured approach when asked about Davies’ status.
He told DAZN: “It doesn’t look too bad. I don’t know if it will be two or four weeks. But I have a feeling it won’t take too long.”

Agonising wait
The injury is likely to spark fears over a possible layoff ahead of the World Cup which kicks off in four months.
Davies is the captain and poster boy for the tournament’s co-hosts Canada.
The Bayern Munich star has clocked up 58 appearances for his country since making his debut in 2017, registering 15 goals.
He represented the Reds in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and proudly scored his nation’s first-ever goal at the competition in a 4-1 defeat to Croatia.
Davies’ Bayern teammates were able to see off Frankfurt to maintain a nine-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
Aleksandar Pavlovic opened the scoring for the reigning champions before Harry Kane scored twice to put Bayern into a commanding position.
Frankfurt fought back with two late goals through Jonathan Burkardt and Nottingham Forest loanee Arnaud Kalimuendo.
