NBA rumors: Trail Blazers have ‘serious interest’ in Celtics’ Jaylen Brown
The Portland Trail Blazers could emerge as a potential suitor for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown if the former NBA Finals MVP becomes available this offseason.
According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Portland remains interested in adding a marquee player after previously exploring trade scenarios involving Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“Speaking of Plan Bs, league sources say the Portland Trail Blazers would have serious interest in Brown if the Celtics made him available. The Blazers have been among the suitors for Antetokounmpo since the February trade deadline but appear to be on the outside looking in at the moment.”
Amick added that the Minnesota Timberwolves, another team previously linked to Antetokounmpo, have shown strong interest in Celtics guard Derrick White.
The report highlights Portland’s continued desire to pursue a star-level addition after returning to the playoffs this past season. The Trail Blazers finished 42-40 and earned the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference before being eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in five games during the first round.
Brown would represent one of the biggest names potentially available on the market. The 29-year-old is coming off a career-best campaign in which he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists and a steal per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three-point range across 71 appearances.
Trail Blazers among teams monitoring Jaylen Brown as Celtics face offseason questions

He helped guide Boston to a 56-26 record and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference despite the absence of Jayson Tatum for much of the season. However, the Celtics’ campaign ended in disappointment when they squandered a 3-1 series lead and were eliminated by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round.
Brown’s name has also surfaced in league speculation surrounding potential Antetokounmpo trade discussions. While no deal has materialized and Boston has not indicated any intention to move Brown, several reports and conversations around the league have examined whether the Celtics would consider including him in a package for the former MVP if such an opportunity arose.
For now, there is no indication that Brown is available. Amick’s report simply underscores Portland’s interest should circumstances change.
Still, as the Trail Blazers explore ways to accelerate their timeline under new ownership, Brown appears to be among the star players they would aggressively pursue if he were to reach the trade market.
