NBA rumors: 2 speculated Giannis Antetokounmpo trade suitors that won’t actually be in mix

The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes will be heating up once again, and this time, there is a good chance that he’s moved before the NBA Draft. The Milwaukee Bucks have let it be known that they’re looking for either a young star or a load of draft assets in order to trade Antetokounmpo, and there will definitely be a number of teams willing to meet their price.

Though there are teams willing to make a deal, there are two teams in particular that have what the Bucks are looking for, but won’t get in the mix, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

“There’s going to be a group of teams that will get in the mix for Giannis this offseason, but we can already write some of them off. The San Antonio Spurs have been mentioned; they will not be pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason. The Atlanta Hawks, I’ve also been told, are not going to be pursuing Giannis,” Siegel wrote.

The Spurs have been building a solid foundation that revolves around Victor Wembanyama, and they would probably want to continue with what they have then giving it away. They’ve already shown throughout the playoffs that they have the team to compete, and trading for Antetokounmpo, they’d definitely have to move some of those players that are helping them now.

As for the Hawks, they’re not as far along as the Spurs, but they have exciting young players, plus the No. 8 pick in this year’s draft. Since the start of the season, the Hawks have let it be known that they’re not looking to trade for Antetokounmpo, and they’re willing to build their roster from within.

Siegel noted that the three teams that will most likely be interested in Antetokounmpo this offseason are the Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat.
