This appearance unfolded differently. Sanchez kept the Padres scoreless and asked Brice Turang for the baseball after recording the final out, securing a souvenir from the uncommon assignment. His pitches reached 87.7 mph as he worked around San Diego’s two hits.

The decision served a practical purpose for the Brewers. Using Sanchez prevented Murphy from expending another reliever, with the Brewers facing a nine-run deficit late in the game.

The loss offered little for the club to celebrate, but Sanchez supplied an unforgettable closing image. A veteran catcher taking the mound and delivering a scoreless inning gave Milwaukee an entertaining footnote on an otherwise difficult night.
