It caused Marquez’s bike to spin out of control as a red flag was issued and the race was stopped.

The crash had occurred after Acosta lost power in front of Marquez.

Having been unable to avoid colliding with his fellow rider, Marquez veered off the track.

The Spaniard was then sent flying as he went over a bump on the grass, with his bike cartwheeling in the air.

Debris was subsequently left sprawled across the track, with some even colliding with Fabio Di Giannantonio.

As a result, Di Giannantonio was unseated from his bike and slid across the track.

Fortunately for the Italian, he was able to continue once the race restarted.

However, Marquez was left needing treatment as he laid on the side of the track.

Medics quickly raced onto the track to see to the 30-year-old before an ambulance arrived.

He was subsequently transported to hospital in a helicopter, with his team BK8 Gresini Racing confirming he was conscious.
