MLB rumors: Tarik Skubal already wants to sign with Dodgers, so why not trade for him for 3-peat run?

There is concern about Shohei Ohtani’s ability to pitch this season as the Los Angeles Dodgers attempt a 3-peat. But the Dodgers’ title run will need some pitching. With Tarik Skubal possibly wanting to move to Los Angeles, the team should trade for him, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

“The Dodgers have nightmares envisioning Skubal paired with strikeout sensation Jacob Misiorowski in Milwaukee. They know Skubal could be the missing piece for the Chicago Cubs. And the Tampa Bay Rays would be awfully dangerous with Skubal leading their rotation. So why not give up a starting pitcher, a couple of prized outfield prospects, and laugh all the way to the ring ceremony with everyone else seething about their three-peat?” Nightengale wrote.

If Ohtani cannot pitch again this season, that means the Dodgers’ rotation will have a major hole. Currently, World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be the only reliable arm in the rotation. Otherwise, they would have to rely on Roki Sasaki and possible healthy returns from Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow. All-Star Justin Wrobleski will also be one of the arms.

But asking Yamamoto to replicate his performance from last season might be too much to ask. Therefore, trading for Skubal might be the option for Los Angeles. The Dodgers will face some competition from other NL contenders, such as the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs. Even the Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly expressed interest. With just days until the trade deadline, all eyes will be on the Detroit Tigers to see if they trade their valued ace.
