Missouri Tigers flip Kansas forward to other side of Border War rivalry

In a rare Border War twist, the Missouri Tigers landed a marquee transfer on Thursday by flipping former Kansas forward target Bryson Tiller from the Jayhawks.

Tiller, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound redshirt freshman, started 31 of 35 games for Kansas in the 2025-26 season, averaging 7.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 1.3 blocks in 25.9 minutes per game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 26.9% from three-point range. When the Jayhawks took on Missouri on Dec. 7, he compiled 13 points, five rebounds, and five blocks in Kansas’ 80-60 win at the T-Mobile Center.

Ranked as a four-star transfer and the No. 7 power forward in the portal by 247Sports, Tiller chose the Tigers over programs including Michigan, Arizona, and Miami after visiting Columbia. He becomes the Tigers’ third transfer addition of the offseason, joining Tennessee forward Jaylen Carey and Providence wing Jamier Jones.

Tiller brings experience and size to a Missouri frontcourt that must replace departing starters Mark Mitchell and Shawn Phillips Jr., along with contributor Anthony Robinson II, who averaged 8.9 points per game. The Tigers finished 20-13 overall and 10-8 in conference play last season, earning an NCAA Tournament berth before a first-round loss to Miami.

Before the Jayhawks, Tiller developed at Overtime Elite, averaging 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds in 2022-23 and 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds in 2023-24. At Missouri, he reunites with general manager Tim Fuller, who previously worked in OTE.

Originally a top-20 prospect in the 2025 class, Tiller reclassified and enrolled early at Kansas, redshirting before becoming a full-time starter. He still has three years of eligibility remaining.

Under head coach Dennis Gates, Missouri continues to recalibrate its roster, with Tiller expected to compete for a starting role alongside incoming freshman Jason Crowe Jr. and returning big men in a retooled frontcourt.
